Pre-Training Run Number Two
Saturday, January 18, 2014
Pre-Training Run (with my super awesome older sister that admitted to owning ass-less chaps when Fighter by Christina Aguilera came on) Number Two: Well, if we are being completely honest here, I don't know if I would call this a run, per-say, it was more like a 'run for a half mile, tilt my head to stabilize whatever war is happening in my ear, walk a few steps with my finger in my ear, then tell Wendy that we need to stop'.
We're both sick. Today was supposed to be only three miles but since Wen is (probably) overdosing on DayQuil and I am struggling with the trifecta of infections (sinus, bronchioles and double-ear) we rotated between actually running, trotting, walking and visiting the porta... surprisingly only for me. I swear we have the tiniest bladders of running history. Luckily, I got the last hand squirt of hand sanitizer because Wendy brought us a celebration vegan pretzel and chocolate bar thing to split since it is our mom's birthday.
That lady loved the beach and we do too. We're so lucky we get to run on the sand, see the sun rise over the water and have two extra water stops on our route (which reminds me that I have to call Lake Metro Parks to see when they might turn those babies on #runnerprobs).
Today is her birthday. We can celebrate her and thank her today because I am pretty sure she keeps us from getting jumped or run over by cars in the early mornings, under the gorgeous moon, or from getting heat stroke in the hot, humid summers under the beaming, unforgiving sun. I've also never gotten frost bite, chased by a dog or clumsily tripped only to rip all the skin off my hands and knees. I've never gotten heat sickness, gotten sick during a road race and somehow I always manage to get the courage and motivation I need when I have to run by myself. I can almost say all of that is because I have an angel on my side.
Thanks, mom. Thanks for never letting me be mauled by a bear when they were spotted in our county. I appreciate you!
Now if I can only learn how not to overdress for the conditions. I don't need the extra sweat....
Miles Today: 3.56
Total Miles: 8.82
I totally discounted/forgot about our 1.74 mile run on Monday. My thighs hurt so bad that I couldn't finish our scheduled run. I dropped Wendy off at home and planned to finish my four mile run with George (my nephew/her son); however, after I changed my sweaty shirt at my house because it was too cold to run with a sweaty shirt on, I threw in the towel and we grabbed breakfast instead. I looked like a hot mess, but oh well!! So, I guess this would be our third pre-training run.
